How can we help?

Most questions are about why a run scored the way it did. Those answers are below. Anything else, write to us — a person reads it.

The iPhone app

Why wasn't my run ranked?

The result screen always says which reason applies:

  • Flying start — you crossed the start line already at speed. That is not a smooth start from the line, so the run is scored and shown but not ranked. Roll up to the line slowly and it ranks.
  • Left the course — the drive deviated from the course geometry.
  • Not verified — something in the sensor data could not be confirmed. This is not an accusation; unverifiable runs are kept and scored, they simply cannot be compared.

Why is my smoothness low when I felt smooth?

Smoothness is measured from the phone's accelerometer and gyroscope, so a loose mount reads as harshness that your hands never felt. A rigid mount is the single biggest improvement most drivers can make.

My run didn't upload

It is not lost. Runs are written to the phone before any network call and stay there until the server confirms it has them. Sign in, or get back online, and the queue flushes on its own.

Ghosts

A ghost is a progress-versus-time curve, not a GPS trace, and it is a record of a drive that has already finished — ghosts are never shown live against you while you drive, and reading one never reveals anyone's route. Control who can see yours in Profile → Privacy: everyone, friends only, or nobody.

Subscriptions

Manage or cancel Smooooth Pro in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). We cannot cancel or refund on your behalf — Apple owns that relationship. If you paid and the app still shows Free, open Profile → Restore purchases.

Deleting your account

Profile → Delete account. It is immediate, it removes everything, and it cannot be undone. No email required.

Reporting a dangerous course

If a course sends drivers somewhere unsafe, tell us and we will remove it. Include the course name and what is wrong: support@smoooothoperator.com

The daily road game

How do I play?

Open Today's road and press Drive. ↑ is gas, ↓ is brake (hold it at a stop to reverse), ← → steer, and Q E are the indicators. On a phone or tablet, in landscape or portrait, hold it like a wheel and turn it to steer — brake under your left thumb (hold it at a stop to reverse), gas under your right, indicators above the brake. However you're holding it when you set off or resume counts as straight. Prefer a thumb? Pick Slide or Buttons on the road card. On an iPhone, allow motion access when asked. A controller works too: left stick, right trigger for gas, left trigger to brake, bumpers for the indicators.

Can I play full screen on my phone?

Yes: add Today's road to your Home Screen and it opens full screen, with no browser bars. On an iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap Add on the card after a drive, or choose Add to Home screen in your browser's menu. Tilt too sensitive, or not enough? Settings → Tilt sensitivity.

Why did a faster run score lower?

The game scores with the same rules as the app: pace peaks at the road's calm reference pace and falls away on the fast side, and hurrying usually costs smoothness and control as well.

What are Lane and Traffic?

Two game-only disciplines for sharing the road. Lane scores keeping to your lane, signalling before every lane change, never starting an overtake across a solid centre line, and not cutting corners or riding the edge line. Traffic scores keeping at least two seconds behind the car ahead, never overtaking into oncoming traffic, not cutting back in close, and not touching anyone. Waiting behind slower traffic never costs you pace: the time is added to the road's reference. More on traffic and lanes.

Why didn't I get a medal?

Medals need a clean run: no leaving the road and no contact with another car. Leaving the road, or pressing R to be put back on it, means the run is still scored — it just can't earn a medal.

Your progress is stored in your browser on this device only. Clearing site data, or using a private window, starts fresh. There's no account to restore it from — by design, nothing about you is stored on our side.

A friend's ghost says "⚠"

The game re-drives every shared ghost and checks the score in the link. A warning means the drive in the link doesn't produce the score it claims — usually because the link was edited or cut off when it was pasted.

The game is slow or won't start

It needs a browser with WebGL 2 — any current Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. If it stutters, open Settings in the game and choose a lower graphics setting.
